In my flow I have four tools that help me get it right:
- Task List
- Calendar
- Activity/Habit Tracker
- Journal
How I use these tools are often aligned with my core Productivity guidelines that I've developed for myself.
Philosophy
There's plenty of disciplines and methods for being productive. Here's some rules that I try to live by:
- Write what you want to accomplish
- Follow through with your goals
- Keep track of your time
- Reflect often with the goal of correcting, refining, and improving ones flow
- Consolidate and centralize information worth remembering
With these in mind, it's easy to describe how I get into the cycle of being productive.
The typical flow
- Use a task list for individual tasks for individual projects
- Use a calendar to allocate blocks of time in the future to remind you of an event or deadline
- Use an activity/habit tracker to log time spent on a project or assignment, or learning a skill or a new habit
- Use a journal for ideas and as a personal space to document things
